The NINJA program is a new initiative that aims to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing direct support to local startups, unlike JICA's conventional support to the Indonesian government through Official Development Assistance (ODA). Selected startups participate in a 9-week accelerator program and are supported to polish their business model with professional mentors including mentors from Japan.

Keiichiro Nakazawa, Senior Vice President of JICA, said, "Today's event is the beginning of joint creation between local startups and Japanese investors and companies, and we hope that their business will contribute to the SDGs. JICA will continue to support the achievement of the SDGs in Indonesia through local startups.
