1 Technical Cooperation Project in the field of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy

Jamaica-Japan summit meeting was held on the 30th September, 2015. H.E. Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan announced that Japan decided to extend a new technical cooperation project to Jamaica and three other CARICOM Member States in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy, which is one of the highest priority areas of cooperation requested by CARICOM member states. Hereafter JICA will implement the Project from conducting surveys to design the project.

2 Grant Agreement for "The project for the Improvement of the Exhibition of Audiovisual Equipment of the Institute of Jamaica"

A Grant Agreement for "The project for the Improvement of the Exhibition of Audiovisual Equipment of the Institute of Jamaica" was signed between Peter D. Phillips, PhD, MP, Hon. Minister of Finance and Planning and Mr. Kenji Tobita, Resident Representative, JICA Jamaica Office. The signing ceremony was held on the 30th September, 2015 at Jamaica House in Kingston, observed by both Prime Ministers and H.E. Masanori Nakano, Japanese Ambassador to Jamaica.

This cooperation is to supply equipment to the Natural History Museum both for permanent exhibition and outreach mobile exhibition, equipment for the promotion of cultural and artistic development of Jamaican children and youth; equipment for technology upgrade of the Lecture Hall and Audio-Visual Room.

These facilities play a role in enhancing awareness on Jamaican culture and natural heritage, to nurture the creativity of children, to promote social inclusion of people. The Grant Assistance to these will contribute to foster youth development and to promote culture and education.
