JICA Advisor organized seminar on organic farming for farmers on 22 September 2017 in Kochkor district in cooperation with JICA Project on Dissemination of Organic Farming and Increase in Added Value of Agricultural Products in the KR, Ministry of Agriculture, Food Industry and Melioration KR, Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K.I. Skryabin (KNAU) and cooperative "Kochkor Logistics".
JICA Project expert and KNAU professors informed farmers on farming and land fertilization techniques that can be used for improving soil fertility and increasing yields. Farmers expressed much interest in composting.
Main agricultural product of Kochkor district is potato. The conditions for cultivation impact potatoes marketable appearance, storage time and further demand on the markets. In order to evaluate the current conditions in Kochkor district KNAU professors collected samples of soil, water and potato for making analysis in laboratories. KNAU professors will provide additional consultation to farmers of Kochkor district based on the results of the laboratory survey.
