JICA and UNDP will further cooperate in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in Kyrgyzstan

On 1 February 2018 Kikuchi Kazuhiko, JICA Chief Representative met with Ozonnia Ojiello, newly appointed Resident Coordinator of UN System and Resident Representative of UNDP in Kyrgyzstan.

Ozonnia Ojiello expressed its gratitude for cooperation and noted that partnership of JICA and UNDP resulted in implementation of initiatives that brought innovative technologies in electoral system, increasing credibility of elections in Kyrgyzstan and serve as a foundation for e-government development. The fruitful collaboration in disaster risk reduction efforts has also been noted. Ozonnia Ojiello has also briefed about the progress of Kyrgyzstan in achieving the SDGs.

Kikuchi Kazuhiko informed that JICA is revising its 5-year cooperation strategy with KR and is happy to exchange information and further discuss with UNDP the possible areas for collaboration, including human resources development, economic empowerment, export promotion and others.
