Remarkable progress of OVOP approach.

The third Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting of the One Village One Product (OVOP) Project was held between the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic and JICA. The main goal of JCC is to monitor progress of the Project.

In January 2017, the 3rd phase of the OVOP project has started. It is remarkable, that currently OVOP Association in Issyk-Kul oblast includes more than 2300 members and total sales volume of OVOP+1 for 2017 is more than 23 mln. soms. As for the main achievement, OVOP developed 78 types of products (various types of jams, sweets, oils, dried fruits, etc.) for 1.5 year. Currently OVOP products are sold at 43 sales points in Bishkek and other oblasts, also 34 business contracts were signed, with countries like Japan, Netherlands, USA, Russia and other. Sales of the OVOP Center for the six months of 2018 increased by 230% compared to 2017 for the same period and amounted to more than 2 179 000 soms.

Kyrgyz Government included OVOP approach into the structure for women's entrepreneurship support in the "Concept of the Regional Policy for 2018-2022." Besides that Public-Private Partnership Platforms have been created in each oblast to promote OVOP activities in the regions.

We hope that OVOP activities will contribute to the promotion of local industry and the regional development through joint efforts.
