JICA ex-trainee of Bridge engineering training shares his impressions.

A three weeks excellent and informative training course on Bridge engineering in Sapporo located in northern Japan, the island of Hokkaido had finished. The training started with the long but comfortable flight from Bishkek to Sapporo located in northern Japan, the island of Hokkaido.

I was lucky to learn many new things in the field of bridge design and construction, participate in the survey of the existing bridge as well as see how to erect an overpass, applying the method of lifting. This method is appropriate for construction of bridges over big and rapid rivers and on mountainous roads where the shipment of lengthy prefabricated structures is difficult or impossible.

We were delivered a plenty of interesting lectures, visited some highway bridges under construction in the north and south of Japan. Thanks to practical lessons, we were able to get a better understanding of the topic.

At the end of the course, the participants from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan held presentations and formulated further plan for cooperation and training with the support of Japanese bridge engineering specialists.
