Five Malawi Government officials who have been awarded scholarships in the second batch of the Master's Degree and Internship Program of the African Business Education Initiative for Youth (ABE Initiative) paid a courtesy call on the Japanese Ambassador to the Republic of Malawi, Mr Shuichiro Nishioka.

The awardees are from various fields of expertise including agriculture, environmental management, and education. They will study for their master's degrees at Tokyo University of Agriculture, Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, University of Tsukuba and Hiroshima University. The students will also undergo an internship program in Japanese private companies.

In his remarks during the meeting, Ambassador Nishioka urged the awardees to make the best out of this opportunity, particularly during their internship program with the Japanese private companies and utilise the knowledge and skills gained from the program in contributing towards the industrial development of Malawi. He further stated that the internship programs will also be an opportunity for them to strengthen linkages between Malawi and Japanese private companies upon returning back home.
