JICA Holds a Photo Exhibition in Commeration of the 50th Annivesary of the JOCV Program in Malawi

This year, as Malawi commemorates 50th anniversary of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) Program's existence in the country, JICA Malawi Office held a five-day Photo Exhibition from Friday 12th November to Tuesday 16th November, 2021 at Lilongwe City Mall. During the exhibition, several photos showing the activities that JICA Volunteers carried out during the past 50 years, were displayed. These included activities of the volunteers who have served in Malawi in the fields of health, education, agriculture, community development, forestry, mass communication and sports.

During the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition, JICA Malawi's Chief Representative, Kazuhiro Tambara pledged JICA's further commitment to build capacity among the people in the country through the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers Program. In her remarks, Deputy Director of Human Resource Management (Planning), Rose Maleta applauded JICA for its commitment in building capacity among the people in Malawi and pledged Malawi Government's support for the wellbeing of the volunteers as they serve in the country.

The five-day photo exhibition attracted many viewers, the majority of whom had limited knowledge about the JOCV Program and this was an eye opener to them. On the other hand, this photo exhibition was a platform to further promote the JOCV program in Malawi. As a token of appreciation, the people who took their time to visit the photo exhibition went away with a pen branded 50th Anniversary of the JOCV Program in Malawi.
