On 1st August 2018 (Wednesday), the Ground Breaking Ceremony for "the Project for Improvement of Magway General Hospital" by the cooperation of Department of Medical Services (DMS) under Ministry of Health and Sports and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was held at the project site of Magway General Hospital.
In this ceremony, Dr. Aung Moe Nyo, Chief Minister of Magway Regional Government, Mr. Yuta Isozaki, Second Secretary of Embassy of Japan, Mr. Nobuo Iwai, Senior Representative, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), , Dr. Moe Swe, Magway Regional Health Director, Dr. Moe Khaing, Director of Department of Public Health, Health and Sports (MoHS) and Dr. Myat Soe, Medical Superintendent of Magway General Hospital attended and delivered the speech.
The said project will extend total grants amount up to two billion two hundred and eighty-one million Japanese Yen (JPY 2,281,000,000) to construct 3 stories building with a new wing that includes obstetrics and gynecology ward, a neonatal unit, an Intensive Care Unit, an emergency department and Central Sterile and Supply Department by providing the equipment required for the new facilities to improve the health services at the hospital, thereby contributing to better living for residents in Magway Region.
In order to facilitate smooth flow process, the new building will be connected to the existing building as the emergency unit and the imaging unit will be linked to each other on the ground floor, also the new building will be linked to existing operation theater complex and existing wards on the first floor.
This project is intended to make better quality of health care providing services and educational environment at Magway General Hospital by developing facilities and providing equipment which contributes to uplifting life of people in Myanmar.
JICA is glad to extend friendship between Myanmar and Japan through the mentioned grant project.
