U Soe Si, Committee Member (5) of YCDC and Mr. Masahiko TANAKA, Chief Representative of JICA Myanmar Office exchanged the Record of Discussion in the presence of U Kyaw Soe, Secretary of YCDC on 25 November 2014
Yangon – on 25 November 2014, a signing ceremony on Record of Discussion (R/D) for the new Technical Cooperation Project (TCP) "The Project for Improvement of Water Supply Management of YCDC", to be implemented by YCDC in cooperation with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was organized at City Hall of Yangon. The R/D was signed by U Soe Si, Committee Member (5) of YCDC and Mr. Masahiko TANAKA, Chief Representative of JICA Myanmar Office in the presence of U Kyaw Soe, Secretary of YCDC.
The Project will be implemented for 5 years, starting from early 2015. The purpose of the Project is to improve the capacity on water supply management services of YCDC, the organization supplying water to people of Yangon City. Ten (10) Japanese Experts will work in close cooperation with the officials and staffs of Water Supply and Sanitation Department of YCDC in order to improve capacity on institutional management of water supply utility, Non-Revenue water management and water quality management.
YCDC, by the strong leadership of H. E. U Hla Myint, Mayor of Yangon City with his experienced engineers has been showing keen interest and willingness for capacity development and institutional management of water supply and management system. Therefore, the minutes of meeting on detailed planning survey was signed on 27 May 2014 and RD was signed, today, within 6 months period. The Project will be started in 2015 and completed in 2020.
At present, JICA's Advisor/ Expert dispatch program, ODA Loan Project, Grant Aid Project and Grass-root Partnership Program are under implementation in the water sector of YCDC, while Master Plan on Water Supply, Sewerage and Drainage has been completed, last year.
