On 13 June 2017 (Tuesday), the Grant Agreement (GA) for the "Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship" was successfully concluded between Department of Education Research, Planning and Training, Ministry of Education and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Myanmar Office, following the signing of Exchange of Notes (E/N) between the two governments of Japan and Myanmar on 9 May 2017.
This Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS), providing up to six hundred and ten million Japanese Yen (JPY 610,000,000), intends to offer academic opportunities for forty-eight (48) government officials and private sector professionals to study Master's or Doctor's Degree Courses in universities in Japan.
From the beginning of JDS scholarship in Myanmar in 2002 to date, over 400 Myanmar young and highly capable government officials and private sector participants have been dispatched to Japan under this program. JDS program has contributed, and will continue contributing to development of core human resources who will play key roles in socio-economic development of Myanmar; at the same time to strengthening the bilateral relationships between Myanmar and Japan by building and expanding a human network.
