On April 29, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a grant agreement with the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) under Ministry of Transport and Communications for "The Project for The Improvement of Aircraft Surveillance System" at DCA office in Yangon.
The Grant Agreement was signed between U Min Lwin, Director General of Department of Civil Aviation and Mr. Masayuki KARASAWA, Chief Representative of JICA Myanmar Office with the presence of officials concerned from DCA and others.
The amount of the Grant Aid is up to two billion eight hundred and twenty-eight million Japanese Yen (JPY2,828,000,000). The objective of the Project is to improve safety of aircraft operations and enhance capacity of air navigation services in the vicinity of three international airports, Yangon, Mandalay and Nay-Pyi-Taw by upgrading aircraft surveillance systems. The total duration of the Project is expected to be (2) two years until March 2021.
This project will install surveillance system that improve the safety of the country's flight operations and thereby contributing to enhancement of civil aviation in Myanmar.
