Application Deadline for JDS Application has been extended
Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS)

Application deadline for "The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) 2015 (AY2016-2017)" has been extended till November 27, 2015. The deadline has been extended with the objective of active participation of the highly potential applicants, particularly young, highly capable Nepali Gazetted official with 3 years of experience in civil services.

The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of General Administration, the Embassy of Japan, and JICA organized this 2 years master degree program in Japanese Universities for the academic year 2016-2017.The objective of JDS is to support human resource development targeting young government officials who are expected to be leaders of the country and to engage in formulating and implementing social and economic development policies after returned. Participants of JDS are also expected to contribute to an expanded and enhanced foundation for bilateral relations with Japan as persons having well-rounded knowledge of Japan.

Through a careful and comprehensive selection process, a maximum of 20 successful candidates from the 14 target organizations will be selected by early March, 2016 and will be dispatched to Japan in August, 2016 as the first batch of JDS Fellows from Nepal.

Eligible Applicants are;

  1. Citizen of Nepal
  2. Between the age of 25 and 40 as of April 1, 2016
  3. Currently employed in the Target Organizations as Gazetted official, and have at least 3 (three) years of work experience in civil service at the time of application.
  4. Has bachelors' degree; Bachelors of Law is required for Kyushu University
  5. Has a good command for both written and spoken English (IELTS 5.5 (with no sub-band under 5.0)/TOEFL score of 500 or higher is preferred);
  6. Has not been awarded any foreign government scholarship for Master's degree in a foreign country.
  7. Military personnel registered on the active list or person on alternative military service cannot apply for JDS.
