Opening the application for JDS in Nepal!

The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of General Administration, the Embassy of Japan, and JICA in Nepal on 21st August noticed the opening of applications for "The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship by Japanese Grant Aid (JDS) 2017 (AY2018-2019)".

JDS applications for 2017 are now open for young, highly capable, Nepali gazetted officials.

The objective of the JDS project is to support human resource development in countries that are partners of Japan Grant Aid, through providing the opportunity to young, highly capable government officials to obtain a Master's Degree. These officials are expected to engage in formulating and implementing social and economic development plans and become leaders in their countries.

Under the JDS project, JDS fellows, as persons having well-rounded knowledge of Japan, shall contribute to an expanded and enhanced foundation for bilateral relations between their country and Japan.

The JDS Project began 2 years ago and the Second Batch of JDS Fellows dispatched to each University in this August.

With competitive selections in Nepal, a maximum of 20 successful candidates will be selected by early March, 2018 and will be dispatched to Japan in August, 2018 as the Third Batch of JDS Fellows from Nepal. And the target organizations are all governmental organizations.

JICA in Nepal welcome applications from young, passionate Nepali gazetted officials.

Eligible Applicants are;

  1. Citizen of Nepal
  2. Between the age of 25 and 40 as of April 1, 2018
  3. Currently employed in the Target Organizations as Gazetted official, and has 3 years or more work experience, at the time of application.
  4. Has bachelors' degree; Bachelors of Law is required for Kyushu University
  5. Has a good command for both written and spoken English (IELTS 5.5 (with no sub-band under 5.0)/TOEFL score of 500 or higher is preferred);
  6. Has not been awarded any foreign government scholarship for Master's degree in a foreign country.
  7. Military personnel registered on the active list or person on alternative military service cannot apply for JDS.

  • The application deadline is 16th October, 2017 and applications should be submitted to the department in charge of the JDS Project in each target organization.
