JICA Nigeria Hosts Send Forth and Reception for ABE Initiative participants

On the 14th August 2018, JICA hosted a send forth and reception for participants and returnees of the African Business Education Initiative for Youth (ABE Initiative) under the Japanese government's Official Development Assistance. A total of 6 participants are expected to leave for Japan to engage in the Master's degree and Internship Program from end of August 2018.

The event had in attendance the Ambassador of Japan to Nigeria H.E. Mr. Yutaka Kikuta, Chief Representative of JICA Nigeria Office, Mr. Katsutoshi Komori, representatives from the Embassy of Japan in Nigeria, Ministry of Budget and National Planning, JICA Alumni Association of Nigeria (JAAN), Nigeria Japan Alumni Association (NAIJAA) and Japanese private sector. Three returnees gave report presentations on their experience while been in Japan in terms of living, studying and doing internship and how they intend to impact the skills and knowledge gained to improve outcomes in their various places of work.

From Nigeria, fifty nine (59) persons have benefitted from this initiative spread over a three years period, out of which twenty two (22) participants have successfully completed the program.

In closing, the 6 outgoing participants were advised to ensure they meet the goals and objectives of the program which provides a better understanding of Japanese society and business practices of Japanese companies and also encouraged to represent the country as good citizens while away.
