Background and Objective
The role of energy sector is vital in developing the economy of the country. In order to develop the economy on sustainable basis, promotion of alternative energy resources i.e solar, wind, hydel are very essential. Keeping this in mind, this project was designed to introduce a demonstration unit of solar electricity generation system in order to promote the use of solar electricity.

Project Summary
This is a special grant aid project of JICA under Cool Earth Partnership. This project includes the installation of 178.08 kW PV Solar Systems each at the premises of Planning Commission and Pakistan Engineering Council, Islamabad which would cater to the needs of both Planning Commission (P Block), Pak Secretariat and Pakistan Engineering Council Building.
Project Highlights
Under this project, two solar PV Systems of the capacity of 178.08 KW each are being installed at Planning Commission and Pakistan Engineering Council Buildings in Islamabad. This is the first on-grid Solar PV project which has the arrangement of net-metering thereby allowing the beneficiaries to sell the additional electricity to IESCO (Distribution Company).
