Islamabad, November 11, 2015: The Vice President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Mr. Hidetoshi Irigaki presented a "Certificate of Appreciation and Award of Recognition" on behalf of JICA's President, Mr. Shinichi Kitaoka, to Mr. Ahmed Kamal, Member Disaster Risk Reduction, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan in the presence of Major General, Asghar Nawaz, Chairman of NDMA at Islamabad.
Mr. Kamal has been working with Disaster Management Sector more than 25 years and has been very important counterpart personnel of JICA. He and JICA worked together with series of Projects such as the "Comprehensive Flood Mitigation and Environmental Plan of Lai Nullah Basin", followed by a Grant Aid Project "The Project for the Improvement of the Flood Forecasting And Warning System for Lai Nullah Basin and Technical Cooperation "The Project for Strengthening of Flood Risk Management in Lai Nullar Basin"; "Formulation of National Disaster Management Plan (NDMP)" and so on.
In particular, being the main counterpart for the preparation of the NDMP he also contributed strongly to the approval of it by the Government.
Mr. Irigaki thanked Mr. Kamal for his many years of cooperation with JICA and honored his contribution to strengthen disaster management sector in Pakistan.
