Media visits JICA assisted project in Karachi

Karachi, 11 August, 2016: In Karachi, the Consulate General of Japan and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) arranged a media tour for showcasing the Official Development Assistance (ODA) from Japan to Pakistan.

Talking to the media, Consul of Japan, Mr. Atsushi Murata along with Researcher, Ms. Yoko Watanabe said that the objective of the press tour was to enlighten the people of Pakistan about the contribution of Japan towards the development of Pakistan. The tour visited Bin Qasim Thermal Power Station along with facility of Suzuki Motors and a water filtration plant provided to Al-Khidmat Foundation by the Consulate General of Japan under the Grant Assistance for the Grass-Roots Human Security Project (GGP).

Since unit 5 and 6 of Bin Qasim Thermal Power Plant were established with the assistance from JICA. Mr. Imran Ahmad, Senor Programmee Officer of JICA explained to media the details of the historic and significant collaboration. He told the media that 10.5 percent of the total electricity produced by K-Electric comes from JICA assisted units of Bin Qasim which itself is a significant figure. Mr. Imran further explained the power sector mandate of JICA for salient projects executed across Pakistan.
