JICA sends officials for training on Disaster Reduction in Japan

Islamabad, January 13, 2018: Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) dispatched 09 members group for "Disaster Reduction Course" to Japan under the "Training Programme for Young Leaders". For this 18 days course, a sendoff ceremony was organized today at a local hotel in Islamabad.

Mr. Yasuhiro Tojo, in his speech said to the participants that "Through this training, you are expected to learn Japanese experience and the factors of disaster management progress and development in Japan, in order to reflect disaster management into development policy and activities in Pakistan."

While concluding his remarks, Mr. Tojo said "I strongly hope you will return to Pakistan with a firm commitment to make a difference in disaster management of Pakistan. Also, I hope you make lifelong friends during your visit in Japan."

This "Training Programme for Young Leaders of Pakistan" is initiated by the Government of Japan under technical cooperation scheme for Pakistan. The forthcoming course has been designed essentially for young leading officials for basic education administration sector of the provincial and federal government in Pakistan. The "Training Programme for Young Leaders" for Pakistan was started by JICA in 1991 and till date around 588 government officials from various ministries and departments have been sent to Japan for wide spectrum of trainings spanning from technical to management fields.
