JICA Palau celebrates 20th anniversary!

On November 21, 2017 in the afternoon, at Tommy Remengesau Jr. wing of PICRC, JICA Palau Office had a particular meeting for Activity Presentation by Volunteers, celebrating its JOCV program and Office inauguration in Palau since 2017.

In attendance were of His Excellency Japanese Ambassador Toshiyuki Yamada, Palau Community College President Dr. Patrick Tellei, Delegate Gibon Kanai, and other VIPs, Volunteers' host family members, counterpart etc.

In the meeting program, there were some special sessions for the 20th anniversary such as introduction of brief history of JICA in Palau by Resident Representative and hand-over of the JICA President Award[1] to Honorable Billy G. Kuartei, a former Minister of State. Mr. Kuartei attended the VAP (Volunteer Activity Presentation) Meeting held at every six months with higher ratio than 80% for twenty years to put generous sights on the volunteers.

Three younger volunteers presented their volunteer activity as usual and one Knowledge Co-creation Program ex-trainee, a member of JICA Alumni Association also presented his training in Japan.

Meeting concluded with an attraction by all JICA volunteers in Palau having simple quiz with attendants regarding every volunteer's activity field.

On following Saturday, 25th early in the morning, "Walk for Life" event was held with the JICA Volunteer initiative on a 5km course from National Track & Field to the President Office in Meyuns and back followed by some physical capability measurement after walking session.
