JICA, DOH partnership for better health services in Typhoon Yolanda areas

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Department of Health (DOH) inaugurated recently the new out-patient building of the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (EVRMC) as part of JICA's support to the Philippines' Build Back Better efforts in Typhoon Yolanda areas.

The new facility was built using Japanese know-how in disaster-resilient design to help minimize disruptions in health services. The facility, part of the 4.6 billion yen grant aid of JICA for Typhoon Yolanda rehabilitation, is the end-referral of all hospitals in the region and is strategically located between Samar and Leyte.
