The first Metropolitan Manila Transit Map will soon be distributed to the public. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) collaborated to produce this transit map of MakatiCity. Moreover, there were over twenty young Japanese volunteers who helped gather and verify the data by getting into the different routes of jeepneys and buses in the area.
Since there was no map which specifies the routes of jeepneys and buses in MakatiCity before, the project was implemented to help commuters choose from the various modes of transportation available and be properly guided when commuting around the City. This map will also be useful for traffic management in Makati City.
This transit map was based on the latest topographic map (1:5000) of Metro Manila which was an output ofone of JICA’s project in 2003.The Metro Manila Transit Map, which also includes the basic fares of buses, jeepneys, lightrail and the metrorail transits, used the Land and Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) data to determine the fare accuracy.
This transit map will be distributed for free to all commuters, hotels, restaurants, supermarket and other public places of Makati through the help of the local Government of Makati City.
