In the second year, the National Trainer Training (TOT) has also been conducted under the same objective as the first year: To train human resource who will socialize LS to acquire basic knowledge and skills on LS. Targeted participants are MONE officers, trainers from MORA-Pus Diklat and Balai Diklat, LPMP staff, officers of Provincial Dinas P&K and Provincial Office-MORA, and lecturers from 13 universities. The training will be conducted in 2 batches at 3 venues each time. Approximately 354 participants will be trained in total, and the 1st batch was implemented in late July, inviting 175 participants.

In the first year, JICA Experts became the trainers due to the lack of Indonesian human resource who has enough Lesson Study knowledge and experience, as it was the first time in Indonesia to implement a nation-wide Lesson Study training. In the second year, JICA Expert Team subcontracted with the resource universities (Indonesia University of Education (UPI), the State University of Yogyakarta (UNY), and the State University of Malang (UM)), and Indonesian lecturers perform as the trainers under the supervision of JICA Experts. These lecturers understand deeply how JICA Experts advise on Lesson Study and how they observe lessons through their experience in PELITA activities. Implementing TOT by Indonesian lecturers is one of the evidences that Indonesian human resource has been developed through PELITA.

The length of TOT is 1 week, and participants study various subjects starting from educational philosophy through lectures, video conference, and school visit. 3 universities collaborated to develop training materials (workbook and DVD) based on the 1st year TOT materials developed by JICA Expert Team. JICA Experts supervised the quality of the newly developed materials, and monitored the training. Moreover, after the implementation of 1st batch, JICA Experts and 3 universities gathered to have reflection of the training. They discussed how and which part of the training needed to be improved. Currently, 3 universities have been undertaking the revision of training materials and method of lecture so that they can implement the 2nd batch of TOT in October better.
