Lesson Study Resource Persons

Lesson Study activities have been diffused throughout Indonesia by now, beyond the target areas of PELITA. The reference sites of PELITA; Sumedang District, Bantul District, and Pasuruan District have kept receiving the people who want to learn about Lesson Study from all over Indonesia. Lesson Study is now developing in its own right in classrooms in Indonesia. JICA Expert Team, the Ministry of National Education (MONE), the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA) and Dinas P&K in three districts decided to acknowledge “Resource Person” in Lesson Study in these three districts so that their own Lesson Study activities can continue even if JICA Experts cannot visit for monitoring and even after PELITA. Resource Persons are from among the principals, teachers, officials from Dinas P&K, and lecturers from resource universities from three districts who have an eye to observe lessons, who can make good comments on the essence of students’ learning in reflection, and who have experience in implementing LSBS activities in their own schools. Currently, 82 persons are acknowledged as resource persons from three districts.

The person who became resource person signs the agreement among MONE, MORA, Dinas P&K, and JICA Expert Team, and the person’s name and contact information is published on MONE’s Lesson Study website. MONE also issued the acknowledgement letter for each resource person.

The TOR of resource person is to contribute to development and quality assurance of Lesson Study activities in schools in all over Indonesia as well as schools in their own district. Upon request, they join the socialization activities for Lesson Study, join open class and reflection, and make presentation on their own experience on Lesson Study. In August, to make the existence of resource person known to their own three districts, JICA Expert Team organized a meeting with all principals of LSBS schools and resource persons in each three district.

JICA Expert Team hopes that principals and teachers not only from three districts, but also from all over Indonesia who want to learn more about Lesson Study, who want to start LSBS (School-based Lesson Study) activities but do not know how to start, and who feel difficulties in keeping the quality of Lesson Study activities due to lack of monitoring from outside organizations can make the best use of resource persons.
