The 4th Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) Meeting

Directorate General of Quality Improvement of Teacher and Education Personnel (DGQITEP) convened the Fourth JCC Meeting on 12 August 2010 at Pitagiri Hotel, Jakarta.

For this meeting, DGQITEP invited the following authorities to the meeting: Directorate General of Higher Education (DGHE), MONE; Directorate General of Primary and Secondary Education Management (DGPSEM), MONE; Directorate General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA-DGIE); Research, Development, Education and Training Institute, MORA; National Planning and Development Board (BAPPENAS); seven Institute for Quality Assurance for Teachers (LPMP); seven Provincial Dinas P&K; one Banten Provincial Office-MORA; nine Kabupaten Dinas P&K; two Kabupaten Office-MORA in Banten Province; and three partner and three resource universities.  The meeting was also attended by JICA Indonesia Office.

In the meeting, the Director at DGQITEP had a presentation about the importance of strengthening teacher's capacity and his plan on empowering school principals and pengawas (school supervisors).  Following this presentation, a representative of JICA Indonesia Office showed great appreciation for Indonesia's strong commitment on quality improvement of teachers and schools through PELITA.  At the same time, he concerned about several difficulties that Indonesian teachers currently faced.  After this, the JICA Expert Team had a brief explanation about current progress of the program and raised three issues to be discussed with the participants.  Those issues are 1) Monitoring after holding LS Training; 2) Coordination among Educational Institutions at the provincial level; and 3) Sustainability of PSBM in Banten Province. After this, the participants discussed the three issues raised by the JICA Expert Team.
