Lesson Study (LS) Workshop was held at Pisita Hotel in Anyer, Serang District from June 15 to 17 organized by District Office of Religious Affairs (DORA). Participants were 63 people; 40 representatives of principals and teachers from MI (Islamic Elementary School), MTs (Islamic Junior Secondary School), MA (Islamic High School) and SMP (Ordinary School), supervisors and staffs from district office of religious affairs and staffs from Educational district office.

PELITA team values the workshop highly as a result of activities of PELITA. One advantage is that DORA invited SMP teachers and staffs from Educational office. We found the achievement of PSBM here. Second is the reason why the workshop will be held in Serang District. Mr.Nurhasan, Head of Islamic Education Section participated in National Trainer Training in UPI in 2010. He said he found the necessity to implement LS in National Trainer Training. It is the achievement of National Trainer Training in 2010 that one of the participants implements workshop to disseminate LS in his district.

Mr.Nurahasan said, "Serang District tries to disseminate LS activity ahead of province as a representative of Banten Province. I expect, through 3 days workshop, participants have interests on LS, get the sense of belongings as LS facilitator, and have responsibility to implement LS". Mr.Ubik, Head of Islamic Education Division in Provincial office of Religious Affairs said, "JICA has worked for Ministry of Religious Affairs to secure budget for PSBM and we secure some budget in 2011. We would like to add more budgets for PSBM next year". Both of them showed their commitment to enhance the quality of education.

Open class of English. In group activity, students who understood the activity explained to students who didn't understand.

Participants learned about LS from lectures of UPI on the second day, and implemented open class and reflection on the third day. At the end of workshop, UPI lectures let participants to reflect the three days training. One principal of MTs said, "I was worried to be criticized about class by colleagues until this workshop but found no need to be worried. I want to support LS as principal. Important thing is teachers' intentions to implement LS by themselves". One teacher of SMP said, "We have to prepare class. It is necessary to prepare lesson plan according to purpose of class. I found teachers sometimes don't notice that students express they need help".

PELITA team will advice to make the strategy of LS implementation based on request by District Implementation Team. PELITA expects Serang District implement LS by using PSBM mechanism.
