Activities in Pelita--kicked off in Each Province

Following the National Inception Meeting held in March 2009, the JICA Program Team conducted the District level Inception Meeting in the targeted 3 new sites. The 3 provinces are: (1) Kota Padang in West Sumatra Province; (2) Kota Banjarbaru in South Kalimantan Province; and (3) Kab. North Minahasa in North Sulawesi Province. (Please refer the map in the Program brief) In the meetings, the JICA Program Team explained “What is participatory school based management?” and “What is lesson study?” and exchanged opinions with participants of each districts/provinces.

On the other hand, continuous activities are implemented in the reference sites (targeted area of SISTTEMS). In Kab. Sumedang in West Java Province, Kab. Bantul in Yogjakarta Province, and Kab. Pasuruan in East Java Province, the 1st MGMP Facilitator Training was held and new facilitators under Pelita program were trained for the first time.

In another reference site (new area of REDIP) of PSBM, the continuous activities are also implemented. In Kab. Serang, Kota Serang and Kab. Pandeglang, the PSBM socialization was recently conducted at each district where representatives from all sub-districts and junior secondary schools participated. The participants mutually understood the importance of continuous work and sustainability led by the district governments.
