First CF Management Plan/ CFUSG confirmation workshops were held in 6 CF targeted villages

July to August, 2011

Reflecting the recommendation made by the mid-term review conducted during February to March 2011, the Output 1(The selected communities practice environmentally and economically sustainable community forestry (CF)) restarted this year's activities with six re-selected CF target villages.

CF user group (CFUSG) in these target villages are expected to prepare CF management plan and get CF certification from the Forest Department (FD). During April to May 2011, the CF management plans of these six CFUSGs were updated. However, in most of CFUSGs the content of management plans was not fully understood /shared even among the management committee (MC) members of CFUSG, and/or information included in management plans were out of dated. Therefore, in order to finalize more practical management plans and to prepare CFUSG by-laws series of CF Management Plan/ CFUSG confirmation workshops are scheduled to be held in each target village.

As a starter, the first workshop for 3 CFUSGs in Laputta Township and 3 CFUSGS in Bogalay/ Pyar Pon Townships were held from July 14 to 20, and from August 7 to 12, respectively.

During this year, in accordance with the progress of the confirmation process with CFUSGs, series of similar workshops will be held for finalization of CF management plans and capacity strengthening of CFUSGs.
