Technical Extension

photo

As explained in the previous Project News, the objective of Alhajuela Project is to disseminate environment-friendly farming techniques to conserve the watershed and at the same time improve the inhabitants' quality of life.  This is done by holding workshops to organize farmer groups and then carrying out extension activities on the group farms.  In today's Project News I will explain one of the activities we do on the group farms.  The photos are from the Boqueron Arriba group farm.  Here group members are making organic fertilizer.  The Project personnel first hands out some printed information on a topic and then explains the process to members (upper photo).  Next, everyone practices the technique together on the group farm (lower photos).  This method of doing group work on a group farm is the core of Alhajuela Project activities.
