Another important element of our initial activities is to strengthen the organization of farmer groups. In contrast to the rice-growing culture of Japan where communal work became the custom for managing irrigation canals and rice paddies, Panamanian farmers have had little experience working as a group and are not accustomed to it. Therefore, through word and practice in our daily activities, we always emphasize the benefits of working as a group. Also, planning and implementing workshops and seminars to teach the importance of group activities and organizational management methods are another important part of our activities.
