The Second Extension Guidebook Seminar

The second seminar on the Extension Guidebook (First Edition), which was created by our Project, was held on June 8th in ANAM’s training facilities (CEDESAM). Continuing from last year, this was the second seminar on the Guidebook. The counterparts selected the people to invite the seminar based on the vision of spreading the Guidebook beyond our Project. The Seminar was a great success with a total of 35 participants coming from 6 of ANAM’s regional offices from as far away as Veraguas Province to the west and Darien Province to the east.

Each counterpart was in charge of the presentation in his/her own field of specialty, explaining how to use of the Guidebook as a manual and taking questions from participants. Among the Guidebook’s chapters, “Sales Promotion of Products and Services” and “Economic Administration and Coordination” generated the greatest response from participants confirming that achieving economic sustainability (in conservation projects) is a theme of common interest. At the end of the seminar, there was a free discussion among counterparts and participants, where the application of the Guidebook to the 19 watershed conservation projects newly initiated by ANAM was discussed in earnest.

ANAM’s regional offices work as the executing arm of the projects that are planned by its national office. Our idea is to make the revised edition of the Guidebook even better by incorporating the perspective of these field staff.
