This is the 100th Project News since persons related to the Project began writing them in October 2007 (so far, there have been 8 contributing authors). In celebration, I collected photos from my surroundings related to the number "100".
The Centennial Bridge: This is the second bridge that crosses over the Panama Canal; inaugurated in 2004 (for Panama's centennial anniversary). (Photographed May 19, 2010)
Duran Coffee: The biggest coffee company in Panama. In 2007, it celebrated its 100-year anniversary of its founding. The very familiar yellow-colored company vehicle sports a commemorative "100". Its plant is located in western Panama, in Chiriqui Province, the main coffee-producing region of Panama. (Photographed May 22, 2010)
"Calle Cincuenta" ("50th Street", commemorating 50 years): One of the main avenues in Panama City. With two photos that makes 100, right? 50 + 50 = 100. (Photographed May 22, 2010)
"Calle Cincuenta" ("50th Street", commemorating 50 years): One of the main avenues in Panama City. With two photos that makes 100, right? 50 + 50 = 100. (Photographed May 22, 2010)
"Cerveceria Nacional" (National Brewery): One of Panama's breweries. It was founded in 1909. "National" in the name doesn't mean it is government operated, but is only part of the company name. The sign on top of the roof states its 100th anniversary. (Photographed May 22, 2010)
Panamanian coins: they add up to one hundred cents (= 1 Balboa). The one-cent piece (copper) has the image of Urraca, a hero of the native people. There is also a park in Panama City named after him. (Photographed May 21, 2010)
