Access Audit Training

photoAccess Audit in Opol

The Access Audit Training was successfully organized in New Lucena, Iloilo from August 26, 2009 to August 28, 2009 with thirty one (31) participants and Opol, Misamis Oriental from October 7, 2009 to October 9, 2009 with thirty three (33) participants.

This training program was designed for the purpose of accessibility analysis to determine the current level of compliance with Batas Pambansa Bilang 344 (Accessibility Law). It is hoped that this training gives the survey team members the confidence and competence to implement the actual access audit using the five (5) minimum basic requirements developed by the Sub-Committee on Accessibility on Built Environment and Transportation (SCABET) of NCDA.

Five (5) Minimum Basic Requirements:

  1. Ramp
  2. Wash Room and Toilet
  3. Parking Area/Slot
  4. Signages
  5. Learning
  6. Non-Skid Flooring

The project further developed it to help monitoring members of the two (2) pioneering municipalities in auditing accessibility of buildings / establishments in New Lucena and Opol respectively.

Training Objective
The participants from New Lucena and Opol such as engineers, architects, members of profiling and accessibility committees, representatives of Project Management Team (PMT), Focal persons and PWDs are able to extend expertise on physical accessibility and to enhance the ability to utilize the five (5) minimum basic requirements of Batas Pambansa Bilang 344 in order to conduct access audit for the purpose of improving the physical accessibility by renovating facilities in New Lucena and Opol.
