4-3. Mural Painting Contest

The "On-the-spot Mural Painting Contest" with the theme of Non-Handicapping Environment (NHE) was held simultaneously on 22 July in New Lucena Iloilo City and Opol, Misamis Oriental. This activity was conducted as one of the NHE Project advocacy activities as well as part of the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week celebration.

Many elementary and high school students participated in the contest and could increase their knowledge and awareness on the NHE Project and the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Photos below are three (3) winning mural paintings out of eighteen (18) entries in New Lucena, Iloilo:

PhotoFirst Prize Winner: Students from New Lucena Central Elementary School. Their painting manifests equality before the law to ensure the mobility of persons with disabilities in places where they wish to go in order for them to move independently.

PhotoSecond Prize Winner: Students from Bololacao National High School. Their painting projects the rights of persons with disability to participate to social activities on equal basis with others.

PhotoThird Prize Winner: Students from New Lucena High School. Their painting advocates the rights of persons with disabilities without discrimination especially in the area of education.

In Opol, the mural painting contest was participated by thirteen (13) elementary and high school students and out of school youth.

PhotoParade for NHE participated by Mayor, Vice Mayor, NHE PMT members, Barangay officials, teachers, students and other sectors of the municipality in New Lucena during the NDPR Week

Photos below are three (3) winning mural paintings out of twelve (12) entries in Opol, Misamis Oriental:

PhotoFirst Prize Winner: The painting shows the accessible features provided for persons with disabilities in the inclusive community.

PhotoSecond Prize Winner: The painting representing the support of the National Government through NCDA and JICA in building a barrier-free community for persons with disabilities in the rural areas of the Philippine, New Lucena and Opol.

PhotoThird Prize Winner: The painting portrays the barrier-free society in Opol where local people with disabilities enjoy his/her life in their everyday living.
