Project Activities

Project Summary

The purpose of the project is to enhance the management capacity of District Health Management Team (DHMT). The focus is to improve the Comprehensive District Health Plan (CDHP), which reflects the health issues in the district, and to solve these by undertaking the activities detailed below〔below chart -(1)〕. With a realistic and convincing CDHP, the Central Government allocates sufficient budget for implementing district activities. There is an essential flow to the plan. First, PHU staff should conduct outreach activities and hold PHU health committee meetings to identify the community’s health needs/issues. Second, PHU staff prepare accurate monthly PHU reports. Third, the DHMT collects (high quality) data and gathers reports from the PHUs through effective supervision〔below chart –(2)〕〔below chart –(3)〕. Last, the DHMT must include the analysis in the CDHP planning process. Since decentralization is currently being implemented in Sierra Leone, it is also very important to strengthen collaboration with the District Council/Council Health Committee〔below chart –(4)〕.
