Counterpart Organization

Responsible Organization at the Central Level is Reproductive Health Department, Health Care Directorate, Ministry of Health. And Implementation Organizations are Health Care Directorate and RH divisions of Aleppo and Idlib Governorates.

Overall Goal

Situation of reproductive health (in the target Governorates) is improved.

Project Purpose

Utilization of quality Reproductive Health services is increased in the target districts.

Output

  1. Quality of RH services provided by Health Care (HC) facilities in the target districts is improved.
  2. Obstacles for women to access RH services are reduced through Behavior Change Communication (BCC).
  3. Capacity of target districts/HCs in management, particularly in planning, monitoring, and evaluation is improved.

Project Activities

1-1Conduct assessment in management (including the collaboration between Health Centers and Normal Delivery Center) and technical/clinical aspects of service delivery in reproductive health to identify gaps and training needs.
1-2Plan and Conduct trainings for medical staffs of HC facilities based on their needs.
1-3Conduct trainings on management for heads of health centers by utilizing the resources in Manbej District.
1-4Establish the system on supportive supervision.
1-5Review the National Guidelines on ANC/PNC (to be introduced at the beginning of 2010), identify gaps with the current situation of HC facilities and develop a plan for adoption/ adaptation of the Guideline.
1-6Strengthening the linkage between health centers and normal delivery centers is planned and facilitated.
2-1Review the community-based health education system with CBWG/CHV established during the Phase 1 (Manbej).
2-2Confirm the resources for the community-based health education and develop the health education system with suitable measures/ approaches in each area.
2-3Draw up IEC/BCC program by identified key target groups (e.g. men, women, mothers-in-law, youth, etc.) based on the results of the review and surveys.
2-4Develop the teaching materials for IEC/BCC according to the planned IEC/BCC program.
2-5Carry out and monitor the IEC/BCC program.
3-1An orientation (kick-off) workshop in Manbej.
3-2Collect necessary data through surveys, assessment, review of regular records, etc.
3-3Conduct training in data management, especially in analyzing and utilizing data collected through the Management Information System.
3-4Establish district level intervention plans based on the information collected.
3-5Organize/participate in meetings for experience among the participating governorates/districts.
3-6Organize a dissemination seminar with participation by all the governorates at the end of the project.
