JICA training mission visited project

JICA training mission for「Capacity Building for policy making on water resource management in the field of Climate Change Adaptation」visited this project on December 14.

This training targeted vice-ministerial person from Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar Kazakhstan and Vietnam. They visited Flood and Storm Control office which is the counterpart of this project. In the morning, Vietnamese counterpart explained current situation of the water related disaster and Mr.Miura explained project situation. In the afternoon, they visited project site of the river bank protection and community disaster management.

Mainly disaster management strategy in Vietnam, JICA policy for the disaster management field and guideline was explained considering the purpose of the mission and attendants. However, the discussion was concentrated to project details. For example, such discussion was vitally made.
"Consideration of the soil washout in flood simulation"
"How much money can be saved in river bank protection when local material is employed"
Further, during pilot site visiting, commune vice chairman and village leader explained project activities. Attendants were interested flood hazard maps on the wall which was prepared by local residents in this project.

This training was 12 days in total. They visited Vietnam after 8 days training in Japan. It was hard schedule but attendants were very vital because this visiting is very interested to the attendants. We wish this visiting will be utilized by all attendants in their countries.
