Baseline surveys were conducted in 05 villages targeted villages

Our project targets five villages: three villages in Da Nhim Commune, one village Lat Commune, and another village Lac Duong Town, which are located in the buffer zone of National Park. In order to understand the current situation of these five villages before starting the project activities, a team from Nong Lam University of Ho Chi Minh City conducted a baseline survey in the fields from April to May. As a result, it was found that approximately 22% of households in target villages live below poverty line, and areas with higher poverty rates had higher tendency to rely their livelihood on forest resources. Based on these results, improvement of livelihoods and promotion of Ecotourism in order to reduce dependence on forest resources was confirmed important.
