Feeding & Management training course for local technicians in STED from 11th to 15th August, 2008

<9>In August 2008, the project held training course for local technicians about feeding & management with the aim to create opportunity for National Trainers (NTs) to be able to decide the contents of the Feeding & Management training course for Local Trainers (LT) & make training materials & presentations based on selected subjects and practices. The content of the training was designed basing on real demand of feeding & management practice in dairy farms in the project’s target areas. The training period was lasted from 11th to 15th August, 2008 for participants from the project’s target areas: Moc chau & Vinh Tuong, from the project’s cooperation areas: Thanh Hoa & Hung Yen and others: Bavi.

During training period, participants not only were supplied theory in Extension method in dairy farming techniques with the examples from other countries, Dairy Farm Management Indicators, Environment of dairy cow feeding and Management, Dairy cow conditions, Feeds quality & Feeding method, Milking method, TMR feeds and feeding, Calf rearing method but also they had chance to practice on urea treated rice straw, silage making, farm management evaluation. At the final day of the training course, participants made presentation on farm management evaluation results.

At the end of the training courses, participants had to do a test which would be evaluated by Mr. Shimokawa and the project’s counterparts. In general, the content of the training course was suitable & met the demand of LTs about some technical aspects of Feeding & Management field in dairy farm and expected that they would apply their knowledge in their job well.
