A study tour for the Counterparts as "National trainers" to the south of Vietnam

NT Training course

The study tour took place in one week (from 18th to 22nd January of 2010) with the purpose of understanding dairy cattle farming in the South , and exchanging experiences, opinions, ideas with people working in dairy industry there. Attending the trip, there are 7 counterparts (C/Ps), the chief advisor, the long-term expert, the coordinator of the project, and the director of International Corporation Department in MARD.

The delegation came to visit Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in the south, the center for Animal Husbandry Research and Technology Transfer, Friesland Campina Vietnam and their demonstration farm, Ruminant Research and Training Center in Binh Duong, Dairy Cattle Farm of the Fishery Joint Stock Company in Can Tho, and Evergrowth Cooperative in Soc Trang.

Through observing, discussion, the participants could see the weakness and the strength of dairy farming in the south, and gained much practical experience that could apply to their job after coming back.

Counterparts visiting Regional Ruminant Training Center(RRTC) under Institute of Animal Science (IAS) in Southern Viet Nam was established by technical aid of Belgium where hundreds of crossbred dairy cattle are raised for practice and training purposes.

One of the member farmer’s cattle shed. In this area, many farmers are still leading very basic lives though, their crossbred dairy cattle upgraded from local beef cattle have been surely contributing to improve their way of living standards due to increased income by milk sale.

Song Hau State Farm, Can Tho in the past was a state owned company. At present, it has been divided into 7 joint stock companies. The dairy farm raise 400 cattle of mainly dairy crossbreds.
