Introduction of Japanese Drilling Machine to NBRO

A New drilling machine delivered to National Building Research Organization by the Technical Cooperation for Landslide Mitigation Project (TCLMP). Although NBRO has drilling machines from many countries, the new machine was brought to introduce better drill cores on TCLMP. This drilling machine is made by TOHO CHIKAKOKI Co.,Ltd, one of a famous Japanese vender on drilling machine.

After the arrival of the engineers from TOHO CHIKAKOKI, they started inspection with NBRO counterparts. Mr.Okamoto, a managing director and Mr. Iwase, a section manager, came to Sri Lanka from 25th August and conducted inspection and some guidance to NBRO counterpart.

On the very first day, they conducted inspection with the person in charge of the machine at NBRO. On the second day, they tried to start the engine and confirmed that the machine is fully functioning. At the same time, NBRO members received some guidance and training on how to operate it. On the third day, they have instructed how to use and maintain the machine to NBRO counterpart and handed over the manuals.

Mr. K.N. Bandara, director of Geo-Technical Engineering & Tasting Division (GETD), said "I really appreciate the cooperation extended by you to strengthen the capacity of landslide mitigation activity in Sri Lanka. We can make maximum of use of this drilling machine activities for landslide mitigation.".
