The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Saint Lucia Office now invites the submission of a quotation to provide consulting services for the "Fact-finding survey regarding the influx and impacts of Sargassum seaweed in the Caribbean region." The deadline for the submission is the 9th of January 2019 at 5:00PM (Atlantic Standard Time).
Responding to the request by several countries in the Caribbean region to provide support in coping with the issues caused by the unusual influx and accumulation of Sargassum seaweed, JICA decided to conduct a basic fact-finding survey to determine the possibility of providing such support.
The objectives of this survey are as follows: (i) to review the existing literature and initiatives in the region: (ii) to summarize the scope of damages and impacts caused by Sargassum seaweed in the target countries: (iii) to suggest potential countermeasures and determine the scope of support that JICA may be able to provide in the future.
The survey is planned to start on the third week of January and last for about 50 days excluding the legal holidays with 18 days of field studies in six East Caribbean countries (Antigua Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines). The assigned consultant is required to submit a final report before the end date of the contract.
Please refer to the attached for further details and the form of quotation.
