JAAT Promoting Traditional Japanese Arts

On December 14, 2017, at the Government Complex, Bangkok, to mark 130 years of Thailand-Japan diplomatic relations, the JICA Alumni Association of Thailand (JAAT) held an activity with the aim of promoting traditional Japanese arts to Thai people. The activity included demonstrations by professional instructors of creating "Ikebana," the Japanese art of flower arrangement, and preparing "Sushi," a popular Japanese dish. Participants, including JAAT members and general people, were divided into two groups: one learnt the basics of creating Ikebana in different styles, and the other learnt about preparation of ingredients, methods of rolling, and techniques in making Sushi. All participants enjoyed a good opportunity to experience traditional Japanese arts, and also to be reminded of the enduring relationship between Thailand and Japan.

PhotoMr. Phanu Sungkavon, JAAT's President, explained about the overview of JAAT.
