Donation Ceremony of Organic Fertilizer for the 90-day "Quick Win" Backyard Vegetable Gardening for Food Security Campaign for Thai Households during the COVID-19 pandemic by Kantoh Nosan Corporation, One Star Emerald Co.,Ltd. in coordination with JICA and the Community Development Department, Ministry of Interior on Monday, June 15, 2020 at Lopburi province

In the emergency situation of COVID-19 pandemic, many people are facing the challenge to maintaining their lives with less income, so JICA has been looking for ways to support Thailand. As, one example, JICA and the Community Development Department (CDD) have been implementing a project called Project for Community-based Entrepreneurship Promotion (D-HOPE project), which aims to stimulate the grassroots economy through enhancement of community-based entrepreneurship, and also JICA is planning a project with Kantoh Nosan Corporation, which deals with organic cultivation. As a result of both activities, JICA is facilitating connection of both information and resources, which has materialized as a donation of 100 tons of organic fertilizer through One Star Emerald Co., Ltd., a joint venture company of Kantoh Nosan Corporation, in Thailand.

The donation of 100 tons of organic fertilizer aims to support Thai people who are participating the 90-day "Quick win" Backyard Vegetable Gardening for Food Security Campaign.

In line with JICA's strategy on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in solving such serious global problems as poverty reduction, the environment, climate change, food supply and resources, as well as JICA's quick efforts against COVID-19 effects, this support with organic fertilizer can improve the quality and productivity of agricultural products and mitigate the shock due to COVID-19.
