"Earthquake Engineering and Disaster Management" Training started on May 05, 2014

The first program of "Third Country Training Program on Earthquake Engineering and Disaster Management" has started on May 05, 2014 with the participation of 10 participants from 7 countries (Azerbaijan, Bosnia, Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Turkmenistan,). The purpose of this training program is to share the technical information such as Weak and Strong Motion Observation Systems of Turkey, Disaster Management, Seismic Damage Assessment, field trip to the construction of 3rd Bosporus Bridge, as well laboratory experiences on the related subjects.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Akio SAITO, Chief Representative, JICA Turkey Office, delivered a speech and emphasized not only the importance for acquiring knowledge but also growing network and friendship with trainers and other participants. Rector of ITU and representatives of AFAD and TIKA also made speeches underlying the importance of technical cooperation with JICA.

After the opening ceremony, all the participants and the authorities of the partner organizations had coffee and found chance to talk about the expectations of the participants. The training will be held from May 05-15, 2014. The closing ceremony and the evaluation meeting will be held on May 15.
