A Disaster Training Activity was held on Feb. 27, 2015 at 365 shopping mall in Ankara. It was held within the context of the "School Based Disaster Education Project" under the cooperation between JICA and the Ministry of National Education. It was particularly designed for primary school students by 7 master teachers from 2 pilot schools in Bursa and Sakarya. The purpose of the activity was to create disaster awarness among primary school students by using attractive visuals and playing enjoyable games. Around 75 students attended the activity with their class teachers. Students were introduced different scenarios such as carrying injured person, steps for disaster preparedness, disaster instructions with card games, importance of fixing on mock-up house, etc. Students were so much interested in the games. With the instructions of the master teachers, the students participated in the games, made puzzles, answered the questions about basic rules for disaster preparedness and they enjoyed carrying a teddy bear without dropping a ball. At the end of the activity, handy note pads with "Disaster Training Saves Life" catchword on the cover page were distributed to the students. Shoppers were also interested in the activity. They watched the games of the students and took information about the project from the master teachers. Some of them encouraged their kids to participate in the games.
