The 3rd "JICA SEMINAR for STUDENTs" was held at at Mus Alpaslan University

STARTING for Strengthening the Relations of Turkey and Japan

JICA held the 3rd "JICA SEMINAR for STUDENTs" on Japan and JICA Activities in Turkey on May 10, 2018 at Mus Alpaslan University. The Seminar aims to increase the public awareness and recognition of Japan and JICA, contributing to further strengthening of the relations between Turkey and Japan.

Courtesy visit to the Governor and the Rector

Prior to the seminar, JICA mission paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Mus, Mr. Aziz YILDIRIM who is an ex-participant and the Rector Prof. Dr. Prof. Dr. Fethi Ahmet Polat. They appreciated JICA for implementing such a seminar in Mus which will contribute to further cooperation with JICA in Mus.

Appreciation to JICA

The seminar started with opening remarks and Mr. Aziz YILDIRIM told that he knew JICA since 2003 when he was working as the head of department at the Ministry of Interior. The Ministry and JICA implemented quite many projects especially on disaster management and disaster mitigation for many state territorials which were very beneficial. Prof. Dr.Fethi Ahmet Polat stated in his opening remarks that he already proposed some projects and investment ideas to JICA.

Mr. Yasui : "Voluntarily working for further development of the relation between Turkey and Japan"

Mr. Takehiro YASUI made a presentation on "New Areas of Cooperation in Turkey-Japan Relation" to around 200 audiences including students, academic personnel and administrative staffs of the university. Mr. Yasui told that he was working voluntarily for further development of relations between Turkey and Japan which goes long way back by introducing Japan in Turkey and Turkey in Japan. In his presentation, Mr. Yasui gave information about Japanese history and culture as well as JICA activities in Turkey. He said as JICA Turkey Office, around 29 loan projects have been implemented in Turkey on various subjects such as Marmaray and 2nd Bosphorus Bridge in addition to agriculture, fisheries, vocational training projects. He also underlined that many public officials got training in Japan especially on disaster management. The audiences were fully interested in Mr.Yasui's presentation. In Q&A session, one of the audience stated that Turkish people was sorry for the atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagazaki as well as the Japanese NGO member who lost his life in Van earthquake in 2011. Some academicians raised some questions about their cooperation requests in the fields of agricultural practices, seismology and road-tunnel construction between Mus and Diyarbakir.
