The 4th Robot Contest, organized by JICA and the Ministry of National Education within the framework of the activities of 2010 Japan Year in Turkey[1], was held on May 6-7 in Ankara. The contest was started on May 6, 2010 with the participation of the Minister of National Education H.E. Nimet Çubukçu and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, H.E. Mr. Nobuaki TANAKA. Besides, H.E. Hideo Tamai, Commissioner for Cultural Affairs of Japan, who was visiting Turkey during the period to attend the Grand Opening Ceremony of Japan Year in Turkey, had also paid visit to the competition hall and observed some of the robot demonstrations.

This Robot Contest was originally started in 2001 as a local competition in Izmir prefecture, based on advice from Japanese experts dispatched for JICA's Technical Cooperation Project "Establishment of Industrial Automation Technologies Departments in Anatolian Technical High Schools". The competition enlarged its scale every year, and since February 2007, this competition was restructured as national competition hosted jointly by JICA and Ministry of National Education. This year counts its 4th year as a national competition.
