JICA signs Japanese ODA Loan Agreement with Turkey
Additional Support for Construction of Subway Linking Asia and Europe

1. On November 22, 2010 JICA signed an agreement with the government of the Republic of Turkey in Ankara to provide an additional Japanese ODA loan for "Bosphorus Rail Tube Crossing Project (Marmaray Project)" for up to 42,078 million yen (total amount is 153,274 million yen for Marmaray Project). Terms and Conditions of "Bosphorus Rail Tube Crossing Project (II)" is applied for this loan.

2. The Project aims to improve traffic congestion and reduce air pollution in the center of Istanbul by constructing a subway line which crosses the Bosphorus, a strait separating the European and Asian continents.

3. JICA's continuous support for Marmaray Project, which is one of the prestigious projects in Turkey, contributes to strengthen the friendly relations and economic cooperation between two countries.
