The Ground Breaking Ceremony for "Ankara Water Supply Project (Gerede Project)"[1] was held in Ankara (April 29, 2011)

1. The Ground Breaking Ceremony for "Ankara Water Supply Project (Gerede Project)", which financed by JICA, was held at DSI General Directorate in Ankara. Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Cemil Çiçek, Minister of Environment and Forestry H.E. Mr. Veysel Eroğlu, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Melih Gökçek and Ambassador of Japan H.E. Mr. Kiyoshi Araki attended the ceremony. In addition to the authorities, many press members attended the ceremony.

2. The authorities mentioned about the importance of this project and Japanese cooperation. On the other hand, H.E. Mr. Araki expressed his honor to cooperate this project.

3. The project site and conference hall were connected to each other by on-line system to give start to the construction.

4. The residents of Ankara faced with water shortage in 2007. With completion of this project, Gerede River water will be brought to address the water supply problems in Ankara.
